Why did God reveal the mystery of Christ now, according to Ephesians 3:10?

God revealed the mystery now so that His manifold wisdom might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenlies. The church is the assembly of called-out believers—ordinary people in the pew, not merely seminarians or preachers—who are to know God's manifold wisdom.

Les explains that God had kept these things secret until they were revealed to this Apostle. In Ephesians 3:10, the purpose of revealing the mystery now is 'to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in the heavenlies might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.' Les stresses that the church is the Ecclesia, an assembly of called-out believers. He asks who the church is—not just seminarians or preachers, but everybody, the common ordinary person in the pew. They are supposed to know the manifold wisdom of God. He illustrates with a recollection of Tyndale, who wanted to get the Word of God into the hands of every plow boy in England, meaning no one was too uneducated to have the Word. God intends every single believer to study the Scriptures and understand them. Les says nothing thrills him more than when someone determines to start studying their Bible.
