Why did Paul say his gospel was not after man?

Paul declared his gospel was not after man because he did not receive it from any human source, nor was he taught it by men. Instead, he received it by the revelation of Jesus Christ, who was in Heaven and Glory after His resurrection, not from human instruction.

Les teaches that in Galatians 1:11-12 Paul makes clear the gospel he preached was not after man. Paul says he neither received it of man nor was taught it by men; rather, he got it by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Les points out that Christ was in Heaven and Glory after His resurrection when He revealed these things to Paul. This revelation came after the work of the cross and Christ's ascension, unlike the four Gospels, which took place before the cross. Paul was to tell the whole world, not just Jew or Gentile. Paul's former life in the Jews' religion, persecuting the church, confirms he did not get this gospel from men.

Galatians 1:11

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

Galatians 1:12

For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

More Questions

What did Paul mean when he said his gospel was not after man?

Paul's gospel was 'not after man,' meaning he did not learn it by attending a school or seminary.

What is Paul claiming when he says the gospel he preached is not after man?

Paul's statement in Galatians 1:11 that the gospel he preached is 'not after man' is a claim of apostleship and authority, not one grounded in any relationship with the twelve.

Why does Paul say the gospel he preached is 'not after man' instead of just saying 'the gospel'?

Paul's wording "the gospel which is preached of me" specifically identifies his gospel, raising the question of why he adds "not after man" if it were the same gospel Jesus and Peter preached.
