What opportunity did God give Israel in the early chapters of Acts after they crucified Jesus?
In the early chapters of Acts, God graciously gave Israel the opportunity to repent of the horrible sin of having crucified their King. Through Peter and the other eleven apostles, He still offered them the King and the Kingdom if they would only believe.
Les teaches that even though Israel said they would not have this man rule over them and finally demanded, “Crucify Him,” God remained benevolent and gracious. In the early chapters of Acts, God came back through Peter and the other eleven apostles and still gave Israel the opportunity to repent of the horrible sin of having crucified their King. He also still offered them the opportunity of having the King and the Kingdom if they would only believe it. This is picked up primarily at Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, where Peter stood at the temple complex with thousands of Jews from across the known world and addressed them as “ye men of Israel,” not including Gentiles. Les explains this is building toward God turning from Israel to the Gentile world to call out a people for His name, the Body of Christ.
