What was every Jew supposed to become in relation to the pagan world?

Every Jew was intended to become a kingdom of priests—a prepared go-between standing between the pagan world around them and Israel's God. As God's treasured people, they were to function as His priestly intermediaries so that the surrounding pagans could be reached for Him.

Les teaches that God's original intention was for the little nation of Israel to be a particular people of value whom He could use to reach all the pagans. In Exodus chapter 19, God calls Israel His treasure above all people because all the earth is His. He promises that if they would be obedient, they would be unto Him a kingdom of priests. Since the role of a priest is a go-between, every Jew was to be a prepared person—a go-between one day between the pagan world around them and Israel's God. This calling explains the uproar when Paul so much as mentioned Gentiles to that Jewish audience in Acts.
