Why does Les say we should come back to 1 Corinthians 15?
We should return to 1 Corinthians 15 because Paul reveals truths the rest of Scripture does not touch, including the true nature of the old Adam and the inherited sin nature. John’s Gospel alone can appear to teach one general resurrection, but Paul supplies fuller revelation about these matters.
Les explains that John 5:28–29 already shows two groups—those who have done good and those who have done evil—but if someone stays only in John’s Gospel, it seems like one resurrection at the same time. He therefore says, “Come back to 1 Corinthians 15 again,” because Paul is the one who reveals many things the rest of Scripture does not even touch. Les stresses that it is in Paul alone that we find the true nature of the old Adam, the inherited Adamic sin nature that came from Adam, even though the Old Testament and Jesus spoke of the wicked heart.
