What did the Jewish harvesters have to leave for the poor?

Under Leviticus 19, after the main harvest was taken, Jewish harvesters were not to reap the corners of their fields or gather the gleanings; those portions—the corners and gleanings—were to be left for the poor. This was part of the Jewish harvest process.

Les teaches that the Jewish harvest had three aspects: first, they took a sampling of the early ripening heads of grain; then they took the main harvest; but they had to leave the corners and their gleanings for the poor. He points to Leviticus 19:9, where after the harvest was taken, they were not to wholly or completely reap the corners of the field, nor gather the gleanings of the harvest. Les connects this Israeli harvest system to Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 15 about Christ as the first fruits of those who have died.
