What did Leviticus 19:9 say about reaping the corners of the field and gathering gleanings?

Leviticus 19:9 instructed, after the main harvest was taken, not to reap the corners of the field completely or gather all the gleanings of the harvest. They were also not to glean the vineyard, leaving these portions for the poor.

Les explains that Leviticus 19:9 comes after the main harvest had been taken. He notes three aspects of the Jewish harvest: first, a sampling of the early ripening heads of grain; second, the main harvest; and third, leaving the corners and gleanings for the poor. They were not to wholly or completely reap the corners of the field, nor gather the gleanings of the harvest, nor glean the vineyard. Les then uses this harvest system as an illustration of the resurrections to come, connecting it to Paul's statement that Christ has risen from the dead and has become the first fruits of those who have died.

Leviticus 19:9

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest.

Leviticus 19:10

And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
