When did God's determinate counsel about Christ's crucifixion take place?

God's determinate counsel concerning Christ's crucifixion took place in eternity past, before creation and human history. Scripture does not reveal exactly how far back it occurred; the context suggests it may have been billions of years ago, when the Godhead determined creation, man's free will, and redemption's consummation.

Les explains from Acts 2:22-23 that Peter declared Jesus was delivered up to crucifixion by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God. Les then asks when that counsel took place and answers that it was way back in eternity past. We do not know how far back; it may be billions of years ago. Les says this counsel of the Godhead determined that one day earth would be created to be inhabited, man would be placed on it, and man would be given free will to respond to God's love or reject it. To bring it to consummation, God went to that. It was all in fulfillment of that predetermined counsel of the Godhead.
