How can a prophet or spiritual person prove they are genuine according to 1 Corinthians 14?

According to 1 Corinthians 14, a prophet or spiritual person proves they are genuine by acknowledging that the things Paul writes are the commandments of the Lord. The test is whether they recognize Paul's writings as divine authority, not merely claim spiritual insight or prophetic status.

Les explains that in 1 Corinthians 14:36-37, Paul asks whether the Word of God came out from them or came unto them only. Then he gives the test: if any man thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, he must acknowledge that the things Paul writes are the commandments of the Lord. So the genuine prophet or spiritual person is not the one who merely claims a spiritual status, but the one who submits to and acknowledges the apostolic teaching as the Lord's own commandments. This acknowledgment of Paul's writings as divine authority is the proof of authenticity. The context shows Paul is dealing with the Corinthian church and correcting their disorder, and the true spiritual person will recognize his instructions as coming from the Lord.

1 Corinthians 14:36

What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

1 Corinthians 14:37

If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 14:38

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
