Is it wrong for Christians to sing and dance before the Lord with exuberance?

No, it is not wrong. Scripture records instances where people sang and danced before the Lord, and there is nothing wrong with singing or with exuberance in the Christian spirit. Absolutely nothing. But such expression must be tempered with common sense and done with understanding.

Les explains that while there are instances in Scripture of people singing and dancing before the Lord, and he affirms there is nothing wrong with singing or with exuberance in the Christian spirit, it must be tempered with common sense. Paul emphasizes that whatever we do in communication with God, including singing, should be done with understanding. The concern is not to forbid expressive worship but to avoid an unknown, guttural language that others cannot understand, so that the assembly is edified and knows when the prayer or song has ended.

1 Corinthians 14:15

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
