Does the baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12 have anything to do with speaking in tongues?

Paul's teaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit has no connection to speaking in tongues. It is the Holy Spirit placing every true believer into the Body of Christ at salvation. The passage contains not a word about tongues, and it is the only Pauline teaching on Spirit baptism.

Les explains that in this passage, Paul writes that by one Spirit we are all baptized into one Body, the Body of Christ. He emphasizes that there is not a word about tongues here. Les maintains this is the only time Paul teaches a baptism by the Holy Spirit, and it happens at salvation when the Holy Spirit immediately places the believer into the Body of Christ. It is a baptism with no water involved. It applies to every true believer, whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free, who has believed the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
