What gifted men does the Church have today according to Ephesians 4?
According to Ephesians 4, the Church today has gifted men serving as evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Apostles and prophets faded from the scene; apostles ended with the Apostolic Age, and prophets ceased once the printed Word was available. These remaining gifts equip the Body of Christ.
Les teaches from Ephesians 4 that every member of the Body of Christ has been given gifts of the Spirit according to the measure of the gift of Christ. When Christ ascended on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men. The gifted men listed include apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. However, Les explains that apostles faded off the scene after the Apostolic Age ended, and prophets faded away because we now have the printed Word. Once the Word came into print, there was no longer a need for gifted men to speak forth the Word. Even so, He still lists them in Ephesians. For today, Les points to evangelists, pastors, and teachers as the gifted men given to the Church.
