Why did pagan animal sacrifices resemble God's sacrificial system?

Pagan animal sacrifices resembled God's sacrificial system because they were a satanic counterfeit. Satan counterfeits what God establishes as the right way, and the pagans copied Israel's practice of offering sacrifices and distributing the meat, since Israel did the same thing.

Les explains that when pagans set up their animal sacrifices, it was a satanic counterfeit of what God had established to be the right way, because Satan always establishes a counterfeit. The pagans offered animal sacrifices and then had the meat taken down to the market place, or maybe given to the individual who brought the sacrifice. Where did they really copy it from? From Israel, because Israel did the same thing. If Israel took a sacrificial animal up to the priests, the priests could eat of the leftover meat first. But if there was more than the priests could handle, evidently it was within their power to designate it to the individual who brought the sacrifice in the first place.

1 Corinthians 10:18

Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
