Does Paul write 1 Corinthians with continuous, connected thought, or does he suddenly shift topics?

Paul does not write 1 Corinthians with strict continuity; he suddenly shifts topics. After discussing resisting temptation and fleeing idolatry, he abruptly moves to the Lord's communion table. The Holy Spirit directs these shifts for a purpose, so the letter moves by sudden transitions rather than one continuous, connected argument.

Les teaches that Paul does not write the book of Corinthians with real continuity. He says Paul will be talking about something, and then suddenly he is off on another thought. The Holy Spirit is doing it for a purpose. As an example, Paul has just been speaking about resisting temptations and fleeing from idolatry, and then in verse 16 he abruptly takes the reader to the Lord's communion table. Les describes this as Paul shifting gears, moving from one subject to another rather than maintaining a smooth, connected flow.
