How does Paul address the carnal Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 10:15?
Paul addresses the carnal Corinthians as wise men, appealing to their ability to judge. Even though they were carnal and had many problems living the Christian life, he approaches them as wise men, asking them to judge what he says.
Les explains that in 1 Corinthians 10:15, Paul does not approach the carnal Corinthians as foolish or incapable. Instead, in spite of the fact that they were carnal and still had many problems living the Christian life, he approaches them as wise men. Paul therefore appeals to them on the basis of wisdom, asking them to judge what he says. This follows his admonition in verse 14 to flee idolatry, where Les notes that idols can be anything from automobiles to cattle, gardens, children, business, or jobs, and that the Lord must be put first and foremost.
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
