Why should we hold fast our profession according to Hebrews 4?
According to Hebrews 4, believers hold fast their profession because they have a great High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has passed into the heavens and is constantly aware of their moment-by-moment existence; He can be touched with the feeling of their infirmities.
Les explains that as believers we face temptation every day and will never leave it until we leave this life, so we must learn to hang on to these promises. In Hebrews 4:14-16, the reason to hold fast our profession is that we have a great High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has passed into the heavens and is constantly aware of our moment-by-moment existence. He is not a high priest who cannot be touched; He can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. The context also recalls Christ presenting His own blood, fulfilling the priesthood of Melchizedek, the High Priest of all.
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
