How is the blood on the doorposts in Egypt like the blood of Christ applied to us?
The blood on Egypt’s doorposts protected the firstborn from the death angel, and the blood of Christ applied by faith gives the same security. Just as Israel was safe under that blood, those under Christ’s blood cannot be touched or separated from God’s love.
Les explains that God redeems fallen mankind only with blood, and Paul takes us back to the Passover night in Egypt because it is the same setting. The Jewish family in Egypt was safe, and the death angel could not touch the firstborn because of the blood on the door. Likewise, redemption is experienced by putting faith in the blood of Christ. Once the blood of Christ is applied, nothing can touch the believer. Les connects this to Romans 8:37-39: believers are more than conquerors, and neither death, life, angels, principalities, powers, things present, things to come, height, depth, nor any other creature can separate them from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Why? They are under the blood, and no power on earth or in heaven can take them from under that blood protection. As surely as the Israelites were safe in Egypt, believers are safe today.
