Do you need to worry about a mature believer eating meat offered to idols?

No. Paul says you do not have to worry about a believer who is grounded in the faith, because such a mature believer has no more compunctions about eating meat offered to idols. The concern is instead for the weak brother, whose conscience could be wounded or emboldened to stumble.

Les explains that the mature believer who is grounded in the faith has no compunctions about eating meat offered to idols, so he should not be the source of worry. The real concern is the weak brother. If the weak believer sees the mature believer eat, his conscience may be emboldened, and he may stumble or be wounded. Paul therefore says that if meat makes his brother offend, he will eat no flesh while the world stands, lest he make his brother offend. Les applies this to watching out for the weak brother and not wounding his conscience, even in many areas of life today.

1 Corinthians 8:10

For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
