What did Paul do to the followers of Jesus before he became a believer?
In his former life in Judaism, Paul persecuted the believers in Jerusalem who had become followers of Jesus of Nazareth. He tried to stamp them out, thought he was doing God a favor, and did many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth, as a religious fanatic.
Les teaches that Acts 26 rehearses Paul’s past life when he was active in Judaism and was a Pharisee. In that former life he persecuted the believers in Jerusalem who had become followers of Jesus of Nazareth. He tried to stamp them out and thought he was doing God a favor. Paul himself says in Acts 26:9 that he verily thought he ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth, as a religious fanatic, which thing he also did in Jerusalem.
