Who was Paul addressing in 1 Corinthians 6 when he said the body is for the Lord?

Paul was addressing believers in the church at Corinth—carnal Christians who were genuine believers—when he asked whether they should take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute, since their bodies are members of Christ.

Les explains that Paul is writing to believers, even the carnal people at the Church of Corinth, but they were believers. Paul asks, "Don't you know that your bodies are the members of Christ?" and then asks whether he should take the members of Christ and make them the members of a prostitute, answering, "God forbid!" Les points out this language sounds horrible to us, but it reflected Corinth's lifestyle: the temple of Aphrodite above the city had 1,000 female priestesses who went down into Corinth at night, confronting men every night of the week. That is why the Bible is so explicit.

1 Corinthians 6:15

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
