How common was gross immorality among the Corinthians?

Gross immorality was pervasive among the Corinthians; it was part and parcel of their everyday experience, so they did not know any different. It affected not only the common people but also those all the way to the top of society, and the same pattern marked the whole ancient world.

Les explains that along with the worship of these goddesses, which was even worse than the worship of the male gods, was gross immorality. He points out that this gross immorality was just a part and parcel of their everyday experience. They did not know any different. And it was not just the common people; it was all the way to the top. This was not just Corinth, it was the whole ancient world. Yet coming back to I Corinthians chapter 3, he says, “such were some of you, but now you're washed.” These Corinthians had their salvation, were washed of their sins and iniquity, and God's grace is always greater if the individual wants to partake of it.
