How close was Corinth to Athens?

Corinth was not far from Athens; the distance was less than 50 miles and within communicating distance even in ancient times. Because of this proximity, the philosophy and paganism of Athens were also indicative in Corinth, showing they were close enough for regular communication and influence.

Les explains that the Corinthians were not that far from Athens—he wonders if it was 50 miles but does not think it was even that far. Yet it was certainly within communicating distance even in ancient times. Corinth was in proximity with Athens, and all the philosophy and paganism of Athens was also indicative in Corinth. As a result, the Corinthians were used to hearing philosophers with smooth talk and big words, which still impresses people.
