Why did Paul send Timothy to the Corinthians and what relationship did Timothy have to Paul?

Paul sent Timothy so the Corinthians would remember Paul’s ways in Christ and what Paul had done on their behalf in bringing them the knowledge of the crucified and risen Christ. Timothy was Paul’s beloved son spiritually, not physically, and was faithful in the Lord.

Les explains that Paul, as the leader of the body of Christ, sent Timothy to bring the Corinthians into remembrance of his ways which be in Christ. Even Timothy would constantly remind them of what Paul had done on their behalf in bringing them the knowledge of the crucified and risen Christ, as Paul taught everywhere in every church. Paul calls Timothy his beloved son spiritually, not physically, and faithful in the Lord. The Corinthians already had the apostle as their spiritual father and his spiritual son Timothy coming to enhance their work, yet they still had problems, much like Israel failed despite great advantages.

1 Corinthians 4:17

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
