How are the Corinthians repeating Israel's failure?

They had tremendous spiritual advantages—Paul as spiritual father, Timothy's ministry, and strong apostolic teaching—yet they still had problems and failed to respond rightly, just as Israel had much going for them in the Old Testament but failed miserably again and again.

Les explains that the Corinthians had the apostle himself as their spiritual father and Timothy, his beloved spiritual son, who would come and remind them of Paul's ways in Christ. They also had the strong teaching and preaching of the greatest apostle who ever lived. Yet Paul says they still had problems. Les compares them to Israel in the Old Testament, who had so much going for them but failed miserably over and over. The Corinthians were doing the same thing: despite all they had, they were not living up to it.

1 Corinthians 4:18

Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
