What is a newly saved person like spiritually?

At salvation, a person is filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit and receives all of God's fullness from the moment of belief, without working or searching for it. A newly saved person is often excited, bubbling over, and aware that a tremendous change has occurred, though the fullness can later be affected by choices.

Les explains that the moment we're saved, we have all of God as He can put Himself into us, and we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit from the very moment we believe. You don't have to work for it or look for it; that was all part of salvation. He notes God leaves within our realm of control how much of the fullness we're going to maintain, or whether we let it empty out. A person just recently saved is bubbling over, excited, and knows what a tremendous thing has happened in their life. But we are still in this old world with allurement, temptations, and the desires of the flesh. Using a coffee cup analogy, Les compares the Holy Spirit to air or pneuma: at salvation the cup is filled to the brim, but as material things fill it, that fullness is displaced.
