What happens to every man's work at judgment?

Scripture states that at judgment every man's work shall be made manifest. This is not the person working for salvation, but the one who has salvation and is now working for reward. Christ must be the foundation, and believers build on it with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or stubble.

Les explains that this judgment makes every man's work manifest, not to determine whether a person is working for salvation, but to reveal the work of one who already has salvation and is now working for reward. He points out that Christ must be the foundation, and by faith in His finished work believers are given the opportunity to add to His building. The materials are gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble. Gold, silver, and precious stones are not found just outside the door; they require going into rough country and hard work, like the old gold miner who worked hard for every ounce. Wood, hay, and stubble are everywhere, and most Christians build with them because they are too lazy to go out and work for the hard-to-get materials. Les notes this is a graphic difference from what most of Christendom teaches.

1 Corinthians 3:13

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
