Why do most Christians build with wood, hay, and stubble?

Most Christians build with wood, hay, and stubble because these materials are everywhere, while gold, silver, and precious stones require hard work and searching in rough country. They choose the easy, readily available materials because they are too lazy to get up and work for the hard-to-get ones.

Les explains that gold, silver, and precious stones are not found just outside the door or by walking down the street; they must be mined in rough country and require hard work. He illustrates this with an old gold miner/prospector in the Rocky Mountains who worked hard for every ounce of gold. Wood, hay, and stubble, by contrast, are everywhere, so most Christians build with them because they are too lazy to get up and go out and work for the hard-to-get materials. The foundation is Christ, received by faith in His finished work; believers then build on it for reward, not for salvation, and every person's work will be made manifest.
