Why did Paul write to the Corinthians so they would not become discouraged?

Paul wrote to the Corinthians so they would not become discouraged by reminding them that despite being carnal and still babes in Christ, they labored together with the Eternal Sovereign God. He wanted them to know God uses every believer, weak or spiritual, to accomplish His work.

Les explains that Paul writes to the Corinthians so they would not become discouraged, even though they are carnal and still babes in Christ. The reason is that they are laboring with the Eternal Sovereign God. You do not have to be a great spiritual giant like some theologians to do the work God has for you. God wants to use every last one of us, whether weak and a babe, a little carnal, or further up the ladder and more spiritual than average. Paul says we are laborers together, and then calls them God's husbandry and God's building. The possessive term is with God; He owns everything, not just the cattle on a thousand hills, and He owns us by the redemption price of His shed blood. It is the preaching of the cross that gets people into this position, and nothing else will do. As believers in the finished work of the cross, God is our partner, our overseer, over everything we say, think, and do. We are His workmanship, His husbandry, and God's building.

1 Corinthians 3:9

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
