Why were 1 and 2 Corinthians written?

First and Second Corinthians were written as responses to questions from the congregation at Corinth. These believers had come out of a pagan, immoral background, so they needed time to sort out their faith and get their feet on the ground.

Les teaches that both letters to the Corinthians were written in response to questions from the congregation at Corinth. He emphasizes that these believers had come out of the most ungodly, pagan, immoral background imaginable. As a result, it took quite a while for them to get everything sorted out and get their feet on the ground. The letters address the issues and questions that arose as these new believers worked through their faith.
