How did Paul gain his converts if he had little to offer physically?

Paul gained his converts strictly through the working of the Holy Spirit, not through personal appearance, speech, or physical appeal. He did not draw people by magnetism or charisma, and physically had little to offer compared to Apollos. The Spirit’s work, not Paul’s natural attractions, brought people out of idolatry and immorality.

Les explains that Paul was not the kind of man who drew people to himself by his appearance, his speech, and so forth; it was quite the opposite. Paul gained his converts strictly through the working of the Holy Spirit. Physically, Paul did not have that much to offer, unlike Apollos, who had magnetism and charisma. Even so, some believers in Corinth adhered to Paul because he had brought them out of their idolatry and immorality. Les uses this to warn against being loyal to a man instead of to the Word of God and to Christ.
