Why does Paul cry against legalism?
Paul cries against legalism in any shape or form because Law and Grace are two totally contrary principles that will not mix. God dealt with the Jew under Law, but deals with believers today under Grace; therefore, legalism has no place, as we are not under the Law but under Grace.
Les teaches that Paul constantly compares the wisdom of men with the wisdom of God, and the Corinthians were still so carnal they were not cashing in on that fountain of wisdom. Les's first premise is to separate what is for the Jew and what is for the Gentile, comparing Scripture with Scripture. God dealt with the Jew under the Law, but He deals with us today under Grace. Law and Grace are two totally contrary principles and will not mix. Therefore, Paul cries against legalism in any shape or form, because we are not under the Law, we are under Grace. Les also notes every believer can get into the Book and feast on it, but most won't, making excuses like 'I can't understand it,' though it is not that difficult.
