Les Feldick Bible Study

How did Les show the woman why he has the hope of salvation?

He showed her why he has the hope of salvation by taking her through verse after verse and comparing Scripture with Scripture, rather than relying on isolated bits and pieces. This comparison of the Word provided a solid basis for assurance and was done for the benefit of the whole class.

Les first asked the woman on what basis she thought she would go to God's heaven. She answered by listing things she had done and cited a couple of isolated verses, such as 'suffer these little ones to come unto me' and 'go into all the world and baptize them.' He then said he would tell her why he had the hope he had, and he showed her verse after verse, comparing Scripture with Scripture for the benefit of the whole class. The woman responded that if she had a salvation like that, she guessed she could be as sure as he was. Les called it sad, noting that multitudes settle on bits and pieces here and there and do not even know where those pieces are. He maintained that a person must know what they are and where they are going based on comparing Scripture with Scripture, which puts them on solid ground.
