Les Feldick Bible Study

When was the hidden wisdom ordained, and was it kept secret?

God ordained the hidden wisdom before the world, as part of His predetermined sovereign plan of the ages, and it was kept secret. It was not a sudden change of mind; rather, it was always in the plan and later revealed through the gospel.

Les teaches that this was not God suddenly changing His mind, saying, “I guess I’ll do it,” but it was all in the predetermined sovereign plan of the ages. Through this man, God would reveal these hidden wisdoms. Reading on in verse 7, Les points out that the hidden wisdom had been kept secret, which God ordained before the world unto our glory; he suggests Paul could have used the word “my”—unto my glory. Les then goes back to Galatians chapter 1, where Paul certifies that the gospel he preached was not after man. Paul says he neither received it of man nor was taught it by man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Les notes that Jesus Christ was already in glory when He revealed these things to the apostle.
