What did Paul determine to preach when he came to Corinth?

Paul determined to know nothing among the Corinthians except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He did not come with excellency of speech or of wisdom, but focused solely on proclaiming the testimony of God centered in Christ’s crucifixion, rejecting the world’s philosophy and human wisdom.

Les explains that Paul used himself as the prime example. When Paul came to Corinth, he did not come with excellency of speech or of wisdom declaring the testimony of God. He determined not to know anything among them except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Paul did not come to the Bema Seat in Corinth, which was like the town square where philosophers would get on stage and share their philosophy. He did not rely on Greek classics, Homer and Plato. That human wisdom counted for nothing with Paul. Instead, he focused entirely on Christ crucified, contrasting the wisdom of this world with the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 2:1
