How strongly did Paul speak at Athens?
Paul spoke at Athens probably as strongly as any place he had ever been, being pumped up and primed with the power of God after seeing multitudes saved and churches established. Yet the philosophers there called him a babbler and considered it foolishness.
Les explains that Paul had already seen multitudes saved out of pagan idolatry and had established little churches throughout Asia Minor. Coming down the coast of Greece to Athens, Paul was, in Les's words, pumped up and primed with the power of God. Les thinks Paul spoke at Athens probably as strongly as any place he had ever been. Yet the Greek philosophers on Mars Hill called him a babbler, and to the Greeks the message was foolishness.
