Who opened Lydia's heart so she would listen to Paul's message?
Scripture makes it plain that the Lord opened Lydia's heart so she attended to the things spoken by Paul. This shows that human wisdom and words alone cannot get anybody; only when the Holy Spirit opens the heart can anyone attend to the message. This happened in Philippi.
Les explains that in the last program he returned to 1 Corinthians 1:17, where Paul says Christ did not send him to baptize but to preach the gospel, not with the wisdom of words. Les teaches that you can talk yourself blue in the face, but that will not get anybody; it is when the Holy Spirit opens the heart. He points back to Paul meeting Lydia in Philippi, probably Acts 16 or 17, where Scripture makes plain that the Lord opened Lydia's heart so she attended to the things spoken by Paul. Paul did not come with the wisdom of human mentality or intellectual degrees.
And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
