How did a holy, righteous God demonstrate grace to sinful men?
A holy, righteous God demonstrated grace by coming in His own person among sinful men, taking on human flesh, going to the Roman cross, being tortured, crucified, shedding His blood, and being raised from the dead to save lost humanity. That is all grace.
Les explains that the same God who dealt with Israel under the law and the kingdom economy is now going to the Gentile world as well as the Jew, not with the gospel of the kingdom but with the gospel of the grace of God. He says that grace is something very few people comprehend: how could a holy, righteous God in His own person come down amongst sinful men, walk among them, take on human flesh, and go to that Roman cross to be tortured, crucified, shed His blood, and be raised from the dead? The purpose was to save lost humanity, and it is all grace. Yet, as Les illustrates, multitudes go up and down our streets and highways, zipping along three lanes thick, and few stop to think of eternity. It boggles the mind that no one stops to think anymore, but there is a life to come.
