When the Lord comes, will only the spiritual believers be taken or will all the Corinthian believers go?
Paul teaches that if the Lord were to come, it would not be only a few Corinthian believers who would be taken; they would all go. Despite their former idolatry, immorality, problems, hang-ups, and failures, the entire assembly would be taken, not merely the spiritual believers while the carnal were left behind.
Les explains that the Corinthian assembly had been saved out of idolatry, paganism, mythology, and gross immorality. They were not immediately transformed into spiritual giants; they still had many problems, hang-ups, and failures. Yet Paul teaches clearly that this did not divide them at the Lord's coming. If the Lord were to come, it would not be only a few of them that would be taken—they would all go. Les notes that some teach an outcalling of only the spiritual believers, with the carnal left behind, but the text here indicates the whole assembly would be taken.
So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
