Les Feldick Bible Study

What land did England offer the Jews instead of Israel?

England offered the Jews a piece of Africa as a homeland, described as uninhabitable for the most part, instead of their own homeland. The Jewish people refused this offer, insisting they wanted their own homeland, Israel. They have been returning for about a hundred years, and since 1948 have been largely an independent state.

Les teaches that before World War II, going back into the early 1900s and 1800s, only Bible scholars anticipated that the Jews would one day have their homeland and a sovereign government. When Jews talked to the powers in England and America, they were laughed at. The English offered them a piece of Africa, largely uninhabitable, but they refused, saying they did not want a piece of ground in Africa; they wanted their own homeland, Israel. Les points out they have been coming back for the last hundred years, and since 1948 have been pretty much an independent state. He ties this to the passage's two days—2,000 years—after which He will revive us, and the third day, which takes you into the kingdom, when He will raise them up and rule from Jerusalem.
