What did God tell Joshua to do with the Canaanites when Israel crossed the Jordan River?

When Israel crossed the Jordan River, God told Joshua and the children of Israel to destroy the Canaanites completely, not sparing a single one. Their iniquity was then full; after 400 years of patience, they had gone deeper into wickedness instead of repenting.

Les explains that in the Abrahamic Covenant God told Abraham his offspring would be in slavery for 400 years, and He gave the reason they would have to stay out of the land of Canaan: the iniquity of the Canaanites was not yet full. God gave the Canaanite people 400 years to straighten up their act, but instead they went deeper and deeper into wickedness. So when Joshua came across the Jordan River, God told Joshua and the children of Israel to destroy them and not spare a single one, because they had gone down so far. Les connects this to the Gentile world fast approaching the same place, and notes that God is patient, gracious, and kind now, even while the press ridicules any outpouring of God's wrath.
