What did God do with Israel and the Gentiles in Romans 11?
God temporarily broke off natural Israel and grafted Gentiles, pictured as a wild olive tree, into the fatness of the Abrahamic promises by grace. Yet if Gentiles reject Him, they too will be cut off, and God will graft Israel back into their own olive tree and turn again to His covenant people.
Les teaches that God is not through with Israel. Though Israel has been set aside for over 1900 years, that is only a flick of the eyelid in God’s program, and He will graft them in again. Gentiles are pictured as a wild olive tree, unproductive and pagan, with no claim on God except grace. He brought them into the fatness of the Abrahamic promises. But if Gentiles reject what Israel rejected, they too will be cut off. The day is coming when God stops the age of grace, sets Gentiles into the horrors of tribulation, and turns again to His covenant people. Israel, the natural branches, will be grafted back into their own olive tree.
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
