Will Israel's spiritual eyes be opened again?
Israel’s national blindness is temporary, not permanent. God set the nation aside for a season, but He has not removed them from His program forever. After this long period, Israel will once again have her spiritual eyes opened, one day when time runs out.
Les explains that Israel has not stumbled so as to fall completely out of God’s program. God has simply set them aside for a period of time. Individually, they still have the same chance to believe the Gospel of God’s grace as Gentiles do, but nationally God has blinded them. Using Paul’s Acts experience with Simon Bar-Jonah, Les shows that the blindness was for a season, not permanent, just as Israel’s blindness is not forever. Though the season has lasted over 1900 years, it will not last forever; one day, as time runs out, Israel will once again have her spiritual eyes opened.
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
