Where did the priests find the King of Israel was to be born?
The priests searched the Old Testament Scriptures and found in the book of Micah that the King of Israel was to be born in Bethlehem. They did not know it offhand, but after digging into the Scriptures, they identified Bethlehem as the birthplace.
Les explains that the wise men came to Herod asking where the one born King of the Jews was. Herod was frightened and asked the priests where the King of Israel was to be born. They did not know immediately, so they searched the Old Testament Scriptures and found in Micah that He would be born in Bethlehem. Les notes they should have known and answered right away, but unbelief kept them from searching the Scriptures.
