Who were the Gentile exceptions before God turned to the Gentiles?
Before God turned to the Gentiles through Paul, the exceptions were Jonah sent to Nineveh, Naaman the Syrian general, Rahab the harlot, and Ruth the Moabitess. While God dealt predominantly with Israel from Abram's call into Acts, these Gentiles were noted exceptions.
Les explains that from Genesis chapter 12, the call of Abram, until well into the book of Acts, God's dealings were predominantly Jew only. But he notes Gentile exceptions: Jonah went to the city of Nineveh, Naaman the Syrian general, Rahab the harlot, and Ruth the Moabitess. After getting well into Acts, the apostle Paul is called aside, and God tells him he will be sent far hence to the Gentiles. By Acts 28 Paul is imprisoned in Rome, already having been among Gentiles for many years, while still going first to the Jew and then turning to the Gentiles when rejected.
