Why did the Gentiles in Romans 10:20 not seek God?

According to Romans 10:20, the Gentiles did not seek God because they were not concerned about Israel's God and were not worried about their eternal doom; they were saturated in paganism. Scripture's basic rule is that no one, beginning with Adam and Eve, of the human race ever seeks God.

Les explains that Romans 10:20 cites Isaiah, who said God was found by those not seeking Him and was made manifest to those not asking after Him. Those people were the Gentiles, who were not concerned about Israel's God and were not worried about their eternal doom; they were saturated in paganism. Yet God sent the Apostle Paul to those very same people. This fulfills a basic rule of Scripture: no one, beginning with Adam and Eve, of the human race ever seeks God. Earlier, Gentiles were without Christ, aliens from Israel's commonwealth, strangers from the covenants, having no hope without God, but in Christ Jesus they were made nigh by the blood of Christ.
