What did Moses prophesy about Israel and the Gentiles?
Moses foretold that another nation would come into fellowship with the God of Israel, and that Israel would hate them for it. This prophecy was fulfilled as Gentiles accepted the Gospel while many Jewish people fought it, except for a few.
Les explains that Paul, after recounting Jesus' command to depart and be sent far hence to the Gentiles, notes that the Jewish audience listened in rapt silence until he said the word 'Gentile.' At that word they lifted their voices, saying, 'Away with such a fellow from the earth, for it is not fit that he should live.' Les points out that Paul then says Moses foretold this reaction: Moses prophesied that another nation would come into fellowship with your God, and you would hate them for it. Les shows this pattern continued: the more the Gentiles succumbed to the Gospel, the more the Jewish people fought it, except for a few. He notes it is no different today, as Israel's Law of Return tries to keep out Christians and even Jewish people who profess belief in Christ, because religiously they remain hidebound that there is no room for a Gentile in their so-called religion.
