Les Feldick Bible Study

Why has God not been dealing with Israel for the last 1,900 years?

Because the present 1,900-and-some-year period is a gap in which Israel has been out there, and God has not been dealing with them on a covenant basis. Yet He has not forgotten the work He began with Israel around 2,000 B.C.; He will yet finish it.

Les explains that God began a work with Israel around 2,000 B.C. and has not forgotten it. Though there has been a 1,900-and-some-year gap in which Israel has been out there and God has not dealt with them on covenant basis, He is still going to finish what He started. In verse 28, Les points out that God will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness. Once the tribulation seven years starts, God will deal primarily with the Jew according to His righteousness. By the end of that seven years, the unbelieving element will have suffered His wrath and judgment, but the believing remnant will come into the glory of His rule and reign when He sets up His Kingdom. This short work of seven years is brief compared with the 6,000 years since Adam.

Romans 9:28

For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
