Are believers today saved the same way the Apostle Paul was?
Yes. Salvation is by God's grace alone, not by human effort or self-generated repentance. The Apostle Paul, the epitome of a sinner saved by grace, was confronted by God and saved without doing anything on his part. Every believer today is a vessel of mercy, appropriating salvation by faith.
Les explains that Paul is the epitome of a sinner saved by grace. Saul of Tarsus did not suddenly come to himself, repent, and beg God to accept him. Instead, while on his way to Damascus to carry out his dirty work, God knocked him off his horse and spoke, 'Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?' That was grace. Les says believers are in that same category with the Apostle Paul, saved without ever doing anything on their part, and this is the way it has always been. Romans verses 23-24 describe believers as vessels of mercy who deserved nothing; mercy was poured out at the cross and is appropriated by faith.
Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
