Why is the book of Romans important for understanding the doctrines of grace?
The book of Romans is basic to understanding the doctrines of grace, and it also reveals God's dealings with Israel, including Israel's standing in His program today. Its middle three chapters specifically address God's relationship with Israel, making Romans central to grasping both grace and God's overarching plan.
Les explains that Romans is so basic to our understanding of the doctrines of grace, and it also shows how God deals with Israel, especially in the middle three chapters. He notes that a pastor in Pennsylvania taught every Sunday morning from Romans for 25 years. While Les won't take that long, he will spend considerable time in the book because of its foundational importance. Romans not only lays out the doctrines of grace but also explains where Israel stands in God's program even today.
