Why do the Arab world believe they are the rightful owners of the Holy Land?
The Arab world traces descent from Abraham through Ishmael, the son born to Hagar. The Koran is understood to place the covenant promises with Ishmael rather than Isaac. Because of that claimed covenant line, they believe they are Abraham's true heirs and therefore the rightful owners of the Holy Land.
Les teaches that God had promised Abraham and Sarah a son for 50 years, but Abraham became impatient and delved back into pagan customs by using a surrogate mother. Sarah suggested Hagar, their slave girl, and Abraham agreed, producing Ishmael, Abraham's natural son. That fleshly idea is the root of the conflict in the Middle East yet today. The Arab world says they are the true children of Abraham because, as Les understands the Koran, it places the covenant promises with Ishmael instead of Isaac. Consequently, they feel they are the rightful owners of the Holy Land. Paul's statement that not all Abraham's seed are children, but in Isaac shall thy seed be called, stands as the scriptural contrast.
